GRANDFATHER CLOCKS
ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What kind of movements do your grandfather clocks have in them?
Most of our clocks have dependable 31 day key wind movements. You wind then once per month. However, we also carry grandfather clocks by JC Jordan which are quartz clocks which are battery operated. On the other hand, the mechanical clocks have a movement which is driven by the springs you wind instead of the weights. The chimes are created by two hammers hitting two chime pin rods. It is hard to beat these dependable movements.
2. Do the pendulums swing on your grandfather clocks?
Of course they do...our mechanical grandfather clocks are real pendulum clocks. If you stop the pendulum from swinging the clock stops. On the other hand, the pendulum on our JC Jordan Clocks have swinging pendulums which are battery driven.
3. Do your grandfather clocks have a night time shut off switch for
the chime?
Our mechanical clocks do not have a shut off switch. The tone is however pleasant. While our JC Jordan Quartz clocks have shut off controls.
4. Is there any assembly once I receive my grandfather clock?
Yes, but it won't take long and is truly simple. The only tool needed is a philips screwdriver to insert 8 machine screws. It will not take you more than 10 minutes from start to finish. There are excellent instructions and if you have any problem or questions. We pack our clocks this way for safe shipment and so we can have them delivered by UPS and not a freight truck that would then cost a few hundred dollars for delivery. There is nothing technical about the assembly and set up. All technical parts pertaining to the clock head and clock movement are pre assembled and require no further attention
5. What if my grandfather clock does not strike the correct hour?
If the clock is new, allow it to operate for several hours before making any adjustments. If the strike is off, grasp the HOUR HAND ONLY (short hand) and rotate it forward or backward to line up with the correct hour on the dial indicated by the number of times the hour strikes. Rotating this hand independently will not harm the movement. Then adjust the hands to the correct time by rotating the minute hand (long hand) clockwise being sure to stop at each hour and half hour to allow it to go through its chiming process.
6. How long will it take for me to receive my grandfather clock?
We will ship your grandfather clock the same day or next business day. If we get your order early enough in the day before the truck arrives we can usually get it on that day's truck. If not it will go out the next business day. Then depending on where you live it will take 10 to 15 business days for delivery. This will all depend on how far your location is. We strive to hurry things along from our supplier’s warehouse and get your order filled and our shipments out.
7. Why are your grandfather clocks priced so cheap?
We are an immediate distributor for most of these grandfather clocks. You are guaranteed to not be going through a middle man. We deal in high volume and low profit margins and you still get high quality but not a high price.
